Raising Cane's has signed a 15-year lease to open its first location in New York City's Queens borough. The 4,500-square-foot space, located at 39-20 Main St. in Flushing, occupies the ground, mezzanine and lower levels of the building. It is expected to open in April of 2024. Asking rent was $950,000 per year. Flushing is the fourth-largest Central Business District in New York City, according to data from the Queens Chamber of Commerce. The Louisiana-based fast-food concept will be housed in a property that is situated at the busiest intersection in Queens and features second-generation, vented restaurant space. It is near the Flushing-Main Street subway station, which provides access to the 7 train. JLL's Corey Zolcinski and Erin Grace represented Raising Cane's on the deal. Cushman & Wakefield's Andrew Kahn, Fanny Fan and Adrienne Gallus represented the landlord, JBS Holding Corp., on the transaction. "The property benefits from its prime location on one of the city's busiest intersections, and the foot traffic from Flushing's fast-growing Chinatown," said Fan in a press release. "This is one of the highest retail rents per square foot ever achieved in downtown Flushing." Raising Cane's plans to open 25 restaurants in New York City in the next three years.
