Frontier Garage-Underground Storage Tank Modifications

A. The Work of this Contract provides for a single prime mechanical contractor to modify (7) seven underground storage tanks at the SEPTA Frontier Garage Facility and includes the following: 1. Removal of the at-grade reinforced concrete slabs at (6) six of the (7) seven underground storage tanks. 2. Removal of the existing at-grade manways and spill buckets and replacement of new for the (6) six underground storage tanks. 3. Relocate and provide new direct fill ports outside the existing containment sump at (6) six of the (7) seven underground storage tanks. This work shall require the services of the original tank manufacturer field service personnel and materials/component parts to provide and install new tank penetrations. 4. Refurbish the piping, valves, sensors, conduits, entry fittings and ancillary components within containment sumps for all (7) seven underground storage tanks. a. The replacement of entry fittings may require limited replacement of conduit and piping exterior of the containment sumps for (6) six of the (7) seven tanks. b. This work shall require Pa DEP certified personnel and OEM certified personnel. 5. As required, replace the tank round containment sumps with eight-sided polygon containment sumps for the installation of Rigid Fiberglass Bonded entry fittings. The replacement of containment sumps shall require the materials and field service personnel associated to the Original Tank Manufacturer. 6. Modify all (7) seven underground storage primary tank interiors with a BTU (Biofuel Tank Upgrade) modification inclusive of the tank Original Equipment Manufacturer 10 year (minimum) Warranty. The BTU modification shall be performed by the tank Original Equipment manufacturer’s personnel. 7. Provide and install new conduit, junction boxes, wire and sensors within containment sumps and/or manway skirts (where containment sumps are not provided). This work shall require the Original Equipment Manufacturer certified technicians 8. Backfill excavated areas and install new reinforced concrete at-grade slabs. 9. Coordinate work and provide alternate on-site services (as necessary) to continuously provide fluid storage and dispensing activities for the SEPTA bus fleet. 10. Perform and document tightness testing of primary & secondary piping, containment sumps and spill buckets. This work shall require both PA DEP certified personnel and OEM certified personnel. 11. Perform and document operability testing of the monitoring system.
