Description

Furnish all labor and materials renovate existing trail and parking lot at Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve (Stidham Woods). Existing Asphalt Trail Repair: Contractor to mill to a minimum depth of 3” and remove material. Mill so the finished surface is free from gouges, grooves, and ridges. Contractor shall use water as necessary to minimize airborne dust. It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to insure the road surface is clean and free of dirt, trash, debris and all other substances that would prevent the bonding of the new material to the old before beginning work. Provide and apply tack coat consisting of a thin application of emulsified asphalt, class AE-T shall be applied to the surface of the existing bituminous pavement. The material shall be applied at a rate to leave a uniform asphalt residue from .02 to .07 gallon per square yard. Supply, deliver, spread and compact with fine graded surface course hot mix asphalt with a minimum thickness of 3”. Apply ¾” sand asphalt friction course. Finished trail to be firm, stable, and free draining. The surface of the completed repair shall have no indentions, pockets or recesses that may trap and hold water, nor have bumps or high places but the completed surface shall match the grade of the existing pavement surface. Seal all joints within 24 hours of completion of paving.
