Description

This Work shall consist of 1.) vegetation removal from the toe of the rock slope to 15 ft above and beyond the crest of the slope face between approximately Sta. 10+50 and Sta. 17+75, 2.) initial hand/light mechanical scaling (initial scaling) from the toe of the rock slop to 15 ft above and beyond the crest of the slope face between approximately Sta. 10+50 and Sta. 17+75, 3.) more robust, targeted scaling (targeted scaling) in each of the areas shown on the Plans, and 4.) the removal and legal offsite disposal of all scaling debris including loose rock blocks and pieces of rock material, accumulated rock debris on benches from previous rockfall events, and otherwise unstable debris including loose soil and vegetation from the entire exposed rock slope face between approximately Sta. 10+50 and Sta. 17+75 as directed by the Resident or the Departments duly authorized representative. In general, targeted scaling could include initial scaling and is anticipated to be more time intensive than initial scaling due to the size of the rock blocks and their location on the slope relative to the roadway level. The Work shall include furnishing all labor, materials, supervision, and equipment, and performing all operations in connection with removing and disposing of scaling debris (i.e., loose rock blocks and pieces of rock material, rock debris from previous rockfall events, and otherwise unstable debris including loose soil and vegetation) from the entire rock slope face and ditch as shown on the Plans.
