Whitmire Building Demolition The County of Newberry is seeking contractors for the demolition of a wood framed structure in Whitmire, SC. Newberry County TMS #314-1-4-4, is located at the corner of Gilliam Street and Setzler Alley in Whitmire. All work shall conform to Newberry County and SCDEC regulations pertaining to demolition work The scope of work will be to demolish and haul off the vacant building as shown on the TMS map # 314-1-4-4. The building is a wood framed structure, wood-sided, with brick veneer. The wood flooring is on raised pillars The demolition will be for the walls, supports and roof. The existing concrete slab will remain. Care shall be taken to ensure the existing slab is not damaged. There is an interface with the brick building to the existing garage building that is part of TMS # 314-1-4-4. The intent is to remove the brick veneer from the block wall of the existing garage structure. The block wall for the garage is to be left intact. The support columns for the garage wall are to remain in place. The roof flashing and roof insulation will be straight cut at the interface to leave the flat roof of the garage intact as much as possible. The structural steel supports shall be removed by cutting flush with floor elevation or removed and refilled with 3,000 psi grout or concrete. The site will be smooth graded to the existing adjacent street contours The removal area will be fenced off for safety and to prevent public access. Orange barricade fencing or chain link fencing, properly supported may be used for the barricade. Proper traffic control, including signage will be put in place to prevent interface between demolition work and the daily public traffic. The entire area will be cleaned of all demolished material. The safety fencing may remain in place. |
