The eastbound bridge over the MRL rail line on Interstate 90 at R.P. 309.59 (SID #01594) has significant bridge rail, and approach guardrail damage on the south (right) side of the bridge/roadway. The damaged section of guardrail/bridge rail starts approximately 75 feet from the west abutment and continues onto the bridge for approximately 115 feet. Remove all damaged approach guardrail sections (approximately 75 feet) and posts, damaged steel bridge tube rail (approximately 112 feet) on the south (right) side of the bridge, and 11 damaged type-5 bridge rail posts. Salvage and reuse the undamaged existing approach concrete curb taper. Supply new and replace all damaged bridge tube rail (3 sections approximately 30 feet, 41 feet and 41 feet in length), damaged type-5 rail posts, damaged approach guardrail sections and guardrail posts and tie new approach rail into existing concrete rail end block. Counting from the west abutment, replace posts #3 - #13. Perpetuate the existing splices in the tube rail at the current locations; approximately 3 feet past post #4, approximately 2 feet past post #9, and approximately 2 feet past post # 14. All existing type-5 rail post anchor bolts are undamaged and reusable except for 2 bolts on post # 10, 2 bolts on post #11 and 1 bolt on post #13 that are bent. Straighten and reuse these 5 bent anchor bolts. Supply and replace anchor bolts that are not salvageable in accordance with the ANCHOR BOLT REPAIR SPECIAL PROVISION. Supply all new bolts (except anchor bolts for type-5 posts), nuts, washers, blocks, spacers, transitions, tube splice hardware, and any other miscellaneous hardware for completing the installation. Field verify all dimensions, rail splice locations, damage quantities, and new repair materials needed before ordering or fabricating. The Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Industry, in accordance with Sections 18-2-401 and 18-2-402 of the Montana Code Annotated (MCA), has determined the standard prevailing rate of wages for the occupations listed in this publication. The wages specified herein control the prevailing rate of wages for the purposes of Section 18-2-401, et seq., MCA. It is required each employer pay (as a minimum) the rate of wages, including fringe benefits, travel allowance, zone pay and per diem applicable to the district in which the work is being performed as provided in the attached wage determinations. The contract work begins on a date mutually agreed upon by the contractor and MDT, after the issuance of the Purchase Order, but no later than June 5, 2023. The work is to be completed in 15 continuous working days, starting on the mutually agreed upon date. No work is allowed on Saturdays, Sundays, or State of Montana holidays.
