Description | THE PROJECT DESCRIPTION Approximately 1.26 miles of trail construction will be under this contract for the new Len Hardy Trail connecting the Alborn - Pengilly Railroad ATV Trail to the City of Nashwauk. The landownership is US Steel and Mesabi Metallics. The trail utilizes existing corridors developed by UPM Blandin Forestry through Mesabi Metallics land. The trail corridor authorized by Mesabi Metallics is 20 feet wide. GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS - For the approximately 1.26 miles of new 20-foot-wide trail. Trail Clearing and Preparation: Clearing, grubbing, and installation of all erosion and sediment control structures. Full Trail Construction: Finishing, shaping, hardening with pit run and Class 5 aggregate, and installing culverts, and Geo-Web material for trail stabilization. Estimated trail depth is 1' of material. Tracked hauler equipment will be provided by MNDNR Parks and Trails. This project will require compliance with MPCA Construction Stormwater requirements and all other environmental guidelines. Stormwater Installer and Construction Site Manager certification is mandatory requirement for this project. Please submit a copy of certification with this proposal. Contractor will be selection is based on total project cost. More specific information about the project will be included in the quote package. Construction activities will commence upon Itasca County Land Department's authorization to proceed. The trail project packet will be available May 23rd, 2022. A pre-bid Contractor's meeting will be set up for full trail assessment to ensure accurate bid submission. Details of the meeting will be discussed with the interested parties requesting a project packet. All bids must be in accordance with the Bidding Documents. The Itasca County Board reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive any defects or technicalities, to advertise for new bids, or to take such action it deems lawful and in the best interests of Itasca County. |
