Description | Bids will be accepted prior to the date of opening of bids from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday or mailed to the City of Sylacauga - City Clerk's Office. Each bid must be sealed and the following words, along with "SYLACAUGA DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS, "BIDDER NAME", "BID PROPOSAL ENCLOSED"; "GENERAL CONTRACTOR LICENSE NUMBER", and "BID DATE AND TIME" must appear on the outside of the sealed envelope. Other sets for general contractors, and sets for subcontractors and dealers, may be obtained with the same deposit, which will be refunded as above, less cost of printing, reproduction, handling, and distribution. To submit a bid, a complete set of a bid documents MUST be obtained from EEFS Company, PC., the Engineer. Bid Documents must be picked up no later than 24 hours prior to the bid opening. The Sylacauga Drainage Improvements Along East Clay Street and South Broadway, S Norton Avenue and West Walnut Street, East 1st Street and Calhoun Avenue, and Drainage Channel along Central Avenue Project consists of removing and replacing existing drainage structures, concrete sidewalks and curb and gutter. Structures being removed are 667 linear feet of existing pipe with associated pavement patching, curb removal, and inlet removal and 90 square yards of concrete. Items to be installed include 17 Type S-inlets (1 wing), 1 Type S-inlet (2 wings), 5 storm manholes, 760 linear feet of 18" Dual Wall HDPE or A2000 Storm Pipe, 81 tons of asphalt wearing surface layer, 182 square yards of asphalt patching, 66 square yards of concrete sidewalk patching, and 10 square yards of concrete driveway patching. Also included is 425 linear feet of concrete curb and gutter. The Drainage Channel Along Central Avenue will consist of Cleaning and Debris removal for approximately 700 linear feet of concrete channel. Miscellaneous items such as traffic control and erosion control are also included. THE ENTIRE PROJECT SHALL BE COMPLETED IN ONE HUNDRED (100) CALENDAR DAYS. A cashier's check or bid bond payable to City of Sylacauga in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's proposal along with Non-Collusion Affidavit. A One Hundred Percent (100 %) Performance Bond and a One Hundred Percent (100 %) Payment Bond and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the Contract. All general contractor bidders must be pre-qualified pursuant to pre-qualification procedures and criteria established by the Owner prior to picking up bid documents. Written pre-qualification procedures and criteria are available for review at the office of EEFS Company, PC. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Engineer or copies thereof. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Engineer; the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. All bidders must have a current Alabama General Contractor's License. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner's judgment, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted. Engineer's Bracket Estimate: $400,000.00 to $450,000.00 Nonresident bidders must accompany any written bid documents with a written opinion of an attorney at law licensed to practice law in such nonresident bidder's state of domicile, as to the preferences, if any or none, granted by the law of that state to its own business entities whose principal places of business are in that state in the letting of any or all public contracts. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. |
