Description

Request for Proposals for Cleaning, Waxing, Repairing, and Preparing a Report on the Oklahoma Land Run Monument The Oklahoma Land Run Monument is one of the world's largest bronze sculptures, comprised of 45 heroicsize figures of participants in the Land Run of April 22, 1889. It commemorates the birth date of Oklahoma City, when a cannon shot sent 50,000 people rushing in to claim land in central Oklahoma Territory. The main sculptural body of work is a mass of people, horses, and equipment which extends over 30 feet across and 100 yards long. At a scale of one and a half times life-size, a single horse and rider towers 12 feet above the ground. Separated from the main mass are two additional figure groups: soldiers with a cannon to signify the starting point, and a Sooner waiting with his horse, watching the action
