Description

Bids will be received for the following: General Construction including all Demolition, Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical work. Award of the Contract shall be to the lowest responsible bidder determined on the basis of a combination of the Base Bid and selected Alternates (if any). No refund will be made for sets not in good condition, missing pages or addenda, or returned later than thirty (30) days after the bids are opened. Other Subcontractors and suppliers may purchase partial plans and specifications from the Architect at $3 per plan sheet; $.20 per specification sheet, $10.00 minimum charge, non-refundable Project construction documents for bidding (plans, specifications and addenda) in .pdf format will also be made available through a website administered by the printing company. Interested parties may register with the printing company to obtain electronic bidding documents. Instructions for use of the website will be provided after registration. All interested parties are advised that electronic access to documents is provided for the convenience of the bidder only. The officially recognized construction documents are those issued by paper copy from the Architect's office and those on file with the Owner. Each bid shall be made on a form furnished by the Architect and must be accompanied by a certified check or cashier's check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the Laws of the United States, or a Bid Bond to be executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the amount equal to percent (5%) of the amount of the base bid, made payable to the Board of Education, Sioux City Community School District, Sioux City, Iowa, and may be cashed by the Board of Education as liquidated damages in the event that the successful bidder fails to enter into a Contract and file a bond satisfactory to the Board of Education assuring the faithful fulfillment of the Contract and maintenance of said improvements as required by the law, the provisions of this Notice and the Contract Documents within ten (10) days after acceptance of the lowest responsible bid. All bids shall be sealed and plainly marked. Any alteration of the Bid Form may be cause for rejection of the bid. The successful Bidder(s) will be required to furnish a Performance Bond along with a Labor and Material Payment Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Sum, issued by a responsible Surety approved by the Board of Education and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and terms/conditions therein and the maintenance of said improvements pursuant to the provisions of the Contract Documents. All affected sub-contractors shall have arranged for such bond with its surety based upon its bid provided to the Prime Contractor to become part of its bid on bid day. Bid Security of two lowest Bidders will be retained until contract has been awarded and executed, but no longer than 30 days. No Bidder may withdraw his bid within 30 days after opening of bids. The Board of Education, Sioux City Community School District, reserves the right to reject any or all bids, re-advertise for new bids, and to waive informalities that may be in the best interest of the Sioux City Community School District. Payment will be made by the Owner from Cash-on-Hand or from other such sources as may be legally available. Funding for this project is being provided from Federal government sources. Davis Bacon Wage Determination will be in effect on this project. Monthly estimates will be paid to each Contractor as the work progresses in amounts equal to ninety-five percent (95%) of the Contract value of the work completed during the preceding calendar month, including the actual cost (exclusive of overhead or profit to the Contractor) of materials and equipment of a permanent nature to be incorporated in the work and delivered to and stored at the job site. Such monthly payments shall in no way be construed as an act of acceptance for any part of the work, partially or totally completed. Final payment of the five percent (5%) due each Contractor will be made upon final acceptance of the work under the respective Contract by the Board of Education, and after receipt of satisfactory evidence that all claims pertaining to such Contract have been paid in full as provided in the Contract Document for said work. Notice of Public Hearing: on proposed plans and specifications, proposed form of contract, and estimated costs for the General Construction Package for the CONSTRUCTION TRADES BUILDING, Sioux City Community School District in Sioux City, Iowa and taking bids for such construction. At 6:00 p.m. (local time) at the Board Room in the Educational Service Center of the Sioux City Community School District, 627 4th Street, Sioux City, Iowa, 51101, on Monday, May 9, 2022 the Board of Education of the Sioux City Community School District (hereinafter referred to as the "Owner") shall hold a public hearing on the proposed plans and specifications, proposed form of contract, and estimated cost of said improvements. At said hearing any interested persons may appear and file objections to the proposed plans and specifications, form of contract, or estimated cost of said improvements
