Description | The Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) is seeking to engage a pre-qualified Accessibility Consultant to conduct a (1) accessibility review of design development (DD) drawings, (2) accessibility review of construction documents (CD), and (3) Element Review Schedule for the accessibility improvements and critical repairs at Surprenant Hall/Hebert Auditorium at Quinsigamond Community College (QCC). Currently the Project is at the design development phase of study process. The project is assumed to require full compliance with 521CMR and the 2010 ADA Standards. This project includes a single building composed of two parts: a four-story classroom/laboratory wing and the single-story, 558-seat Hebert Auditorium. While the portions of the building are named separately, the building was designed and constructed as a single building. The Accessibility Consultant is expected to review the select drawings for accessibility compliance and provide comments on areas that do not comply with accessibility requirements and where Universal Design considerations are recommended. DCAMM estimates that work will commence in June 2022. The anticipated duration of the Accessibility Review contract will be nine (9) months from contract execution. The goals of this Study are to determine the preferred approach for achieving full accessibility compliance and addressing critical repairs in the building. The following narrative offers a summary of the scope of work: Accessibility Compliance: 1. Accessibility improvements to all inaccessible toilet rooms and drinking fountains: o Gut-renovation of inaccessible toilet rooms with approximately 1,300 square feet of renovated space. o Replacement of inaccessible drinking fountains. o New toilet rooms and drinking fountains to increase plumbing count per State Plumbing Code. 2. Accessibility improvements inside Hebert Auditorium with approximately 5,600 square feet of renovated space: o New wheelchair spaces and companion seats. o New armless seats. o New vertical lift to projection booth. o Upgrades to assistive listening system. o Alterations for accessible circulation, including new accessible route for stage access and auditorium egress. |
