Chemical Building Elevator Modernization and Elevator Maintenance

The North Jersey District Water Supply Commission (the Commission) is soliciting proposals from Elevator Contractors that have expertise in the design/supply/manufacture and installation and maintenance of vertical transport systems, and the ability to act as the General Contractor for the turn-key modernization of the Commissions Chemical Building Elevator. The Commission owns four elevators. The Chemical Building Elevator is past its service life and needs to be modernized. This elevator, along with the other three, will need new maintenance service agreements. However, the maintenance for the Chemical Building Elevator must include an interim, pre-modernization maintenance period. The scope of the Chemical Building Elevator Modernization consists of replacing the following major items: - Cab enclosure - Car operating panel and controls - Hydraulic Pump unit including hydraulic cylinder and jack - Traveling cables - Related appurtenances The Elevator Contractor will be responsible to obtain permits and certification for operation, inspection, and testing. Additional items included in the Scope of Work Demolition and disposal of existing materials not slated for reuse - All materials and components are to be supplied as part of the scope of supply and work - Related electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, fire alarm system work - Machine room work The Elevator Contractor shall have a minimum of 5 years of experience in providing and maintaining similar equipment in municipal installations. The Commission will be practicing Social Distancing 6 ft. apart and require all respondents to were a face mask. The firm must own and maintain a local office within 100 miles of the Commission. The Chemical Building Elevator Modernization will be performed under a single prime contract. The Selected Elevator Contractor shall be licensed in the State of New Jersey. All bids must be made on the blank forms supplied by the Commission. Bids Forwarded via Overnight Services Shall Indicate That a Sealed Bid is Contained Therein. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashiers check or bid bond for ten percent of the contract price (not to exceed $20,000) as a guarantee of execution of contract and the provision of performance security. Every bid must be accompanied by the consent in writing of a surety company (or surety companies) qualified to do business in the State of New Jersey, who shall, at the time of submission of such bid, qualify as to its (or their) responsibility in an amount equal to One Hundred Percent of the contract price of such bid., All bidders are considered to have full knowledge of the conditions and requirements, including the physical characteristics of the site and the project, which are necessary for an accurate bid. The Bidder shall be held to be aware of the Commissions requirements prior to the time of submitting bids and to have appraised all conditions under which the Contract is to be performed. The Commission and/or its employees do not express or imply any statements regarding existing conditions beyond what may be stated herein. Seq., N.J.S.A. 34:11-56.25 et. seq.) and the New Jersey Contractor Business Registration Certificate N.J.S.A. 52.32-44.
