Description

It is the intent of Charlotte County to construct this military memorial structure to commemorate the six branches of the United States Armed Forces. The structure will eventually be located 30' underwater, 1.5 miles off the coast of Charlotte County. The construction shall include, but not limited to, fabrication, drawing renderings, material acquisition, excavation, and construction of the memorial structure. Estimated Budget: $99,000 No local license required to perform the services for this project. Any questions can be answered by contacting Rhiannon Mills, Contract Specialist at 941.743.1374 or email: Rhiannon.Mills@CharlotteCountyFL.gov. This structure is composed of six (6) curved concrete masses that represent the guardians of our nation. Inlaid on the backs of these figures are deep red granite stripes that run towards the central element. These symbolic figures hold a vertical bronze staff that symbolize the strength and might of the military branches. Each staff structure holds its unique branch seal and motto. The Guardians encircle the central element (the APEX) which represents our great nation, the values that it is built upon and the people that compose its culture. The United States seal rests at the peak of the Apex structure. This Apex and monument as a whole will serve as an artificial reef that will promote habitation and the flourishing of sea life.
