Description

The Work consists of a stream restoration that will include an existing reach length of 1,268 linear feet (LF) with a restoration length of approximately 1,131 LF. Restoration will include all associated tributaries utilizing natural channel design (NCD) techniques. The design utilizes Priority Level 2 restoration, raising the stream bed slightly and creating a bankfull bench within the confined valley. The banks along the floodplain of the confined channel will be graded back allowing for 3 to 1 slope, creating greater stability. A C4 channel has been designed for the site with a steeper segment connecting the proposed stream with the existing channel downstream. Riffle and pool cross sections were developed using a combination of Virginia regional curve data, reference reaches, onsite bankfull data collection and stream gauge data.
