Description

The project consists of the renovation of the school entrance to form a new entrance with overhead canopy, new secure vestibule with electronic access control, storefront doors, protective bollard, interior finishes, and modification and additions to the existing communication and security systems. Budget Estimate - $115,000-$145,000 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. New Hanover County Schools Invites Licensed General Contractors to bid on the International School at Gregory Security Upgrades. This project will be bid and awarded in accordance with G.S. 143-131, Informal Bidding Procedures. Licensed General Contractors must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience on competitively bid publicly funded construction projects e.g. City, County, State or School Systems. The Design Consultant and a representative from New Hanover County Schools will be available at that time to answer questions concerning the project. Questions after that time shall be submitted in writing to Matt Bramstedt (mattbramstedt@ls3p.com), LS3P Associates, LTD, 101 N. Third St., Suite 500, Wilmington NC 28401 or to Leanne Lawrence (leanne.lawrence@nhcs.net ), Director of Facility Planning & Construction, New Hanover County Schools, 6410 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC 28412. A Bid Security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Base Bid must accompany each proposal in accordance with the Information for Bidders. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of forty-five days after the opening thereof. The successful bidder will be required to furnish 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Material Payment Bond. NHCS has a verifiable ten percent (10%) goal for participation by minority businesses in the total value of the work. Bidders are required on school construction and renovation projects to make a "good faith effort" to meet this goal. Bidders shall identify on its bid the minority businesses that it will use on the project. Bidders shall submit along with the bid an affidavit listing the "good faith efforts" it has made pursuant to Section I - Information for Bidders, Article I-8, Minority Participation, and the total dollar value of the bid that will be performed by the minority businesses. A bidder that performs all of the work under the contract with its own workforce may submit an affidavit to that effect in lieu of the aforementioned affidavit otherwise required under this subsection. NHCS reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive informalities and irregularities in bidding, and to accept bids which are considered to be in the best interest of the School System.
