Trail Maintenance II

Period of Contract: June 15, 2021 through October 31, 2023. These projects propose the construction of new sections of 3' wide, sustainable, multi-use trail in the Allegheny County Parks. Distances and terrain will vary from project to project but have been defined by maximum linear feet. Terrain/trail feature descriptors have been included in the project list. Projects may cross small ephemeral streams, drainages, abandoned mine land features (pits, high walls, debris piles), seasonally wet areas, or steep slopes. Much of the work will consist of corridor vegetation clearing and earthwork to establish trail tread. Tread work may include: cutting new tread, establishing out slope, creating drains (dips and knicks) and rollers, creating rock drains, creating elevated tread, creating switchbacks or climbing turns. Where noted in the project list, projects may include the decommissioning of the former trail(s) and is also to be completed as part of this bid. This may consist of uncompacting existing soils, spreading organic debris collected from new trail construction and moving large downed trees to block/disguise old trail corridor. All disturbances outside the trail corridor made by the contractor must be repaired to reflect the landscape as it appeared prior to the project. Any necessary materials (gravel, boulders, and seed) will be furnished by the County. If bridges or other timber structures are required, they are not part of this project scope and will be installed by Allegheny County.
