Operable Unit No. 3 - On-Site Structures at the AL Tech Specialty Steel Corp

Project involves the implementation of remedial activities selected for Operable Unit No. 3 - On-Site Structures at the AL Tech Specialty Steel Corp. site located in the Town of Colonie, Albany County, New York. Remedial activities include, but are not limited to, characterization, cleaning, demolition and offsite disposal of 22 primary industrial steel-making structures and appurtenances. Additional removals shall include ancillary structures such as the clarifier tank, lime storage tanks, above ground storage tanks, underground storage tanks, support sheds, utility poles, concrete barricades with and without bollards, secondary concrete containment structures and substation transformer racks. Water present in vaults, pits or other subgrade structures shall be evacuated and treated prior to discharge to a Department-provided outfall. Restoration of the site shall follow removal of structures.
