Aliak Stormwater and Paving Repairs - City of Kenai

This project will begin to address a failed stormwater line on Aliak Dr. between Candlelight Dr. and Highbush Ln. The galvanized piping has collapsed in several locations which causes the occasional sinkhole to surface after significant runoff. The photo above is from April 2021 shortly after the breakup. The staff has been filling these in with gravel and then patching the asphalt as short-term solutions. This project will require the removal of sections of roadway and the replacement of existing stormwater piping with new and then resurfacing of the roadway. This project is in included in the City of Kenai FY 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of August 24, 2023, information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed. A firm construction timeline has not been released. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
