Description | The Surry Mountain Lake Dam, completed in 1942, is situated on the Upper Connecticut River. The gates were previously replaced in 2000 with a subsequent project in 2008 to tried to rectify gate balance and closing issues. The work associated with this project involves is for the design, fabrication, and installation of two new steel gates, and compatible seals at Surry Mountain Dam. This project consists of the following Scope: - Disassemble hoist operating equipment as needed to remove the existing gates from the wire ropes. - Fabricate two new Broome style gates per provided performance-based criteria and specifications, with adjustments for gate pocket specific tolerances and field verified dimensions. Plans and calculations will need to be submitted based on the performance-based specification for the gates to demonstrate compliance with performance criteria. - Remove and dispose of existing stainless-steel gates. - Install new gates and compatible side and bottom seals. Installation can be made in the upper gate tower. -Test seal and gate operations. |
