Description | The New England Carousel Museum ("NECM") is seeking bids for renovations to exterior stairs from Riverside Avenue to the upper parking lot and other associated work at its facility located at 95 Riverside Avenue, Bristol CT. The selected contractor shall have experience in installing HVAC in historic buildings and shall make every effort to minimize any damage to historic fabric. The Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities in the bid, to reject any or all bids, and to accept the bid that in its judgment is in its best interest. An Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. Minority/Women's Business Enterprises are encouraged to apply. This contract is subject to state set-aside and contract compliance requirements. Each bid shall be in a sealed envelope addressed to NECM, identified as "Exterior Stairs Renovations" accompanied by a Bid Security in the amount of 5 % of the bidders base bid amount, in the form of a Bid Bond made payable to NECM issued by a surety licensed to do business in the State of Connecticut. This contract is subject to state contract compliance requirements, including non-discrimination statutes and set-aside requirements. State law requires a minimum of twenty-five (25%) percent of the state-funded portion of the contract be set aside for award to subcontractors holding current certification from the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services. The contractor must demonstrate good faith effort to meet the 25 % set-aside goals. The Contractor will have seventy five (75) daysto complete the work in this contract The awarded contractor will be required to secure a Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Bond, each in the amount of 100% of the contract award, provided by a surety licensed to do business in the State of Connecticut. The requirements for prevailing wage rates are to apply to the resultant contract award. The Contractor will take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment without regard to their race, color, religion, gender, or national origin. 1. scope of work is to remove existing wooden handrails and guards at main entrance, accessible ramp, entrance 2 and replace with metal railings/handrails where noted on plan. 2. all removed items to be removed from site and disposed in a legal manner. 3. shop drawings are to be prepared by contractor for review and approval by engineer prior to fabrication. 4. refer to sk-2 for railing and guardrailing detailing |
