Rehabilitation and Safety Upgrades

Van Buren Housing Authority, Rehabilitation and Safety Upgrades. 16-Unit Senior Living Apartments 128 Roosevelt Avenue, Van Buren, Maine Sealed bids are being accepted for window replacement to comply with egress codes and to increase energy efficiency, renovation of bathrooms to provide handicap accessibility, including upgrading plumbing and the installation of walk-in showers with lever hardwar and handrails. Apartment doors will be replaced with steel fire-rated doors, entry-way rugs will be replaced with waterproof tiles and non-skid strips, room carpets will be replaced with vinyl floor planks. Upgrades to kitchens will include: cabinets, countertops, sinks and piping. Entry-way porches and ceilings repaired as needed. This work is being funded, in part, through a Community Development Block Grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, administered by the State of Maine, Department of Economic and Community Development.
