Description

This project will include the demolition of the existing Hercules Way and the new Hercules Way will be constructed approximately 140 feet westward to align with Barracks Avenue. This will provide the width necessary for the addition of a dedicated left turn lane onto Hercules Way for inbound base traffic. Included in the project is the repaving of Atlantic Ave between Cobb Pkwy and Industrial Drive and the expansion of parking for Building 833. The new Bldg. 833 parking footprint would extend north and/or west of the existing footprint. Regarding base security, passive vehicle barriers such as an 18” curb will be added to Atlantic Ave as required. New barricades will be added to accommodate the widened roadway and existing barricades removed and replaced with new. Removable bollards will be added in two (2) locations. The first location is between the entrance to the vehicle check pit and the covered security checkpoint on the right inbound lane. The second location is at the beginning of the entrance to the Welcome Center.
