Construct Landfill Disposal Cell 2 - 53029 - Cecil County

Cell 2 is the first disposal cell in a planned 68 acre expansion of Central Landfill and will be developed prior to utilizing the existing active disposal cell 4/5 airspace. Cell 415 is currently projected to reach capacity at the end of June 2025. DPW has targeted completion of Cell 2 construction by end of June 2024 to provide 1 year reserve capacity. Cell 2 will be approximately 12.3 acres providing 1.6 million cubic yards of additional landfill capacity and approximately 10 years of additional landfill life. Future disposal cells will be constructed as landfill space is consumed, in accordance with the Landfill Master Plan Cell 2 is currently being designed and will advanee to oonstruotion in FY 2024 This project is included in the city's fy 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program.
