Description | The City of Ames (COA) desires to enter into a contract with a contractor that will furnish services for performing maintenance at the ash pond at the Ames Municipal Power Plant located at 200 East Fifth Street, Ames, Iowa, 50010. COA desires to enter into a term contract with the winning contractor for these services. First term of contract shall be from date of award through June 30, 2023. COA reserves the right to extend the contract if mutually agreed by both parties for up to an additional four (4) twelve (12) month terms for a total contract length not more than five (5) years. Background COA is located in central Iowa (Story County) and has a population of approximately 60,000. Electric service is provided to a majority of residents and businesses inside the Ames city limits. The ash pond serves as a settling pond where Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) ash falls to the bottom and relatively clean water can be recycled to the Power Plant to transport additional ash from the bottom of the boilers. The ash itself is composed of inorganic materials in the fuel that do not burn and must be removed from the boilers to allow continual operation. Over time the ash builds up on the bottom of the pond and reduces the available capacity of the pond. This ash must be periodically removed via excavating or dredging. All responses must be submitted before the deadline. No late responses will be reviewed. No bidder may withdraw their bid for at least sixty (60) days after the scheduled closing time for receiving bids. The City of Ames reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to make such awards as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. |
