Recycling Services

Scope of recycling services today - currently the township DPW department picks up on each Friday of the month specific streets (areas) of the township - which can be provided to you from the above contacts; note that no recycling pickup is done if there is a 5th Friday of the month (i.e. April/July/Sept/Dec 2022). DPW picks up recycling with minimum of a 3 man crew (driver and two laborers) co-mingle glass/plastic, newspaper and cardboard into a recycling truck from containers placed by residents at the curb. How the above Friday recycling schedule works - Garbage is picked up by our DPW personnel on Monday through Thursday in various sections of the township; the recycling schedule today is as follows - if your garbage is picked up on Monday, your recycling is picked up the first Friday of the month, garbage pickup on Tuesday, recycling is picked up on second Friday of the month, garbage on Wednesday, recycling is picked up on the third Friday of the month, and garbage on Thursday, recycling is picked up on the fourth Friday of the month. The Board of Commissioners goal is to expand the recycling services as well as to assist the DPW department with their existing Friday schedule and provide changes in 2023 that will expand and improve services so our recycling would be two times per month per area. We can accomplish this through your response to this RFP by providing alternatives one would be our DPW picks up recyclables on the same four Fridays, but only the Monday and Tuesday garbage days and the areas associated with those residents and businesses. Your firm would pick up the current DPW Wednesday and Thursday garbage pickup areas. The Board would like to have your firm's interest as well as the 2023 costs and contract received no later than Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. The recycling services will commence on or around May 2023. All proposal prices shall be firm for the life of the contract which will initially be for two years - again subject to acceptance of proposal. No bid bond or performance bond is required; however proof of insurance both liability and personnel must accompany each bid and remain in effect the entire contract time frame. Collusion between firms (contractors) is cause for rejection of all the involved proposals. PATENTED DEVICES, EQUIPMENT AND PROCESSES: It is understood and agreed that without exception, bid prices include all royalties and costs arising from patents, trademarks, and copyrights. The successful bidder shall, in all cases, indemnify and save harmless, the Township of Plains from any and all claims for infringement by reason of the use of any such patented design, device, material, or process to be used or delivered, and shall indemnify the said the Township of Plains for any cost, expense, and damage which it may be obliged to pay by reason of such infringement, at any time during or after delivery. Plains Township reserves exclusively to its self, the right to reject any, or all proposals, or to accept the proposal deemed most advantageous to the Township and to waive any or all technicalities or informalities in submitted proposals. Questions concerning this proposal request will be received through Monday August 29th, 2022 by noon. A meeting can also be scheduled during the RFP process to discuss questions or obtain clarifications.
