Water Meters

This specification covers cold water meters in sizes 5/8” through 2” and the materials and workmanship employed in their fabrication. The displacement meters must be nutating disc meters, which are positive in action in that the discs displace or carry over a fixed quantity of water for each nutation of the disc when operated under positive pressure. Replacement AMR registers with ERT are also included. Meters shall conform to the latest revision of AWWA C700. All meters shall comply with the lead-free requirements as defined by the 2014 provisions of the Safe Drinking Water Act which changes the definition of lead-free to not more than a weighted average of 0.25 percent lead when used with respect to the wetted surfaces of pipes, pipe fittings, plumbing fittings, and fixtures. Meters must be marked clearly with the NSF-61 or other “NL” approved permanent marking on the meter housing.
