Description | This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Claremont, New Hampshire. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information. The City of Claremont, NH currently owns a transfer station within the city limits. The City is exploring the opportunity to exit out of the solid waste transfer station business and lease out the transfer station. In a day and age where environmental issues are often considered and the city searches for savings to the tax rate, the City of Claremont desires to entertain any considerations that incorporate these subjects. Based on the submittals provided the City of Claremont plans to select the best and most qualified bid proposal as the City determines appropriate, that meet the current demands on the system, and try to continue Claremont's efforts for waste diversion from the landfills. Following the selection of the firm/entity, the City of Claremont plans to enter into a multi-year agreement for the operation and maintenance of the facility. This tentatively will be a (5) year agreement. Any extension may be permitted as the city deems appropriate. The Claremont transfer station is open 2 days a week (Tuesday and Saturday), and staffed by 2 full-time employees from the Department of Public Works. The station is open to residents and residential property owners only (identified by a decal sticker). It does not accept construction and demolition (C&D) material from commercial businesses and haulers. A punch ticket system is used to pay for disposal of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and bulk items (there is no cash handled at the transfer station). The facility is in good standing with the NH Department of Environmental Services for both the station and the ground water management permit |
