Description

The outside of the envelope shall be marked, "Bid - Clock Tower Scaffolding." Bids received after the stipulated time will not be accepted. The Cabell County Commission reserves the right to reject any and all bids in whole or in part, as their interests may require, and to waive any informality in bids received. Additionally, the Cabell County Commission reserves the right to accept or reject a Bid not accompanied by the required Bidding Documents; to accept or reject any condition of the Bid by the Bidder that is in any way inconsistent with the terms and conditions of the Bidding Documents; or to accept or reject a Bid that is in any way incomplete or irregular. All Bids shall be valid for sixty (60) days from the date of opening. A. Scaffolding is limited to that portion of the Cabell County Courthouse referred to as its "Clock Tower" which measures approximately 26 feet square at its base and 75 feet +/- high from the Courthouse main roof level (Clock Tower base) to the cupola. B. Include engineering analysis of the existing roof structure surrounding the Clock Tower for the purpose of determining the design of scaffolding bearing components such that the loads imposed on the roof by the scaffolding will not damage the existing roofing or roof structure for the duration of the Project. Existing building structural drawings are not available as they were lost or destroyed in years past. 1. Membrane roofing shall be protected from damage for the duration of the Project. 2. Scaffolding shall span across and not bear upon the existing gable-shape standing seam copper roof that is on the north side of the Clock Tower base. 3. Scaffolding shall not come in contact with nor bear any weight upon: a. The 4 smaller gold-leaf finished half domes. b. The gold-leaf finished high, main dome. 4. Scaffolding shall permit access to all levels of the Clock Tower both for inspection and for rehabilitation work.
