Description | Rhode Island Contract No. 2022-CB-021, Federal Aid Project No. BRO-0726(001), PTS ID No. 2603G includes the replacement of the Bridge 072601 superstructure and partial replacement of the Bridge 072601 substructure carrying Providence Street over I-295. The proposed superstructure will be constructed on temporary abutments and center pier support structures located to the south of the existing bridge, then moved northward into its final position utilizing a lateral bridge slide operation. Upon completion of the slide, temporary barriers will be placed along the bridge corners, waterproofing membrane and bituminous pavement will be installed, and the structure opened for traffic. Certain construction activities will be completed after the proposed bridge is open to traffic, including but not limited to the removal of all temporary works, and utility connections / final relocations. RI DOT - Bridge Group 33A - I-295 Providence St This work consists of the removal, disposal and restoration of that portion of the existing concrete sidewalk, the removal, stockpile, and resetting of the existing granite curb, and the installation and removal of temporary ADA compliant wheelchair ramps at locations shown on the Plans. Upon the completion of the bridge work, the temporary wheelchair ramps shall be removed and the curb and sidewalk restored. The existing roadway pavement and sidewalk shall be saw-cut at the temporary wheelchair locations shown on the Plans. Portions of the existing concrete sidewalk and pavement will be removed and disposed. Existing granite curb will be stockpiled on-site to be reinstalled upon the completion of the bridge sidewalks. The ramp areas shall be excavated, graded, compacted and covered with a 2 inch minimum layer of temporary hot mix asphalt and a detectable warning system to form the ADA compliant wheelchair ramp as directed by the Engineer |
