Description

**As of August 2, 2022 this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established.** The owner is the Town of Clarkstown and the project is along Snake Hill Rd starting approximately 100 ft. south of the Old Mill Rd intersection and ending at approximately 40 ft. north of the Crusher Road intersection. The work includes providing all labor, materials, machinery, tools, equipment and other means of construction necessary and incidental to the completion of the work shown on the Plans and described in these Specifications including, but not necessarily limited to the following: The project consists of replacing the superstructure of the bridge carrying Snake Hill Road over the CSX River Line Located in the Town of Clarkstown, Rockland County. Additionally localized concrete repairs will be performed on the bridge substructure. The project will also include the replacement of the approach pavement and drainage system. SCOPE OF WORK Snake Hill Road Bridge (BIN 3345780) crossing CSXT is a structure in West Nyack, the Town of Clarkstown, Rockland County New York and carries Snake Hill Road over 2 tracks of the CSXT Riverline. This bridge replaced the original bridge crossing CSXT around 1990 in a major construction project which re aligned and re profiled both Snake Hill Road and Old Mill Road. The existing bridge is a one span prestressed concrete slab and deck structure with approx. a 48 foot span and 38 deg skew. The cross section is one 12 foot lane and 6 foot shoulder (measured to the shoulder break point) in each direction. The substructures are cantilever abutments founded on rock. The depth of the existing structure prestressed beam is 18 inches and slab is shown on the original plans as 6 inches thick. The existing bridge superstructure and bridge seats and backwalls will be removed. The proposed Snake Hill Road Bridge will be solid prestressed plank units with a topping of 1 inch nominal thickness of Ultra High Performance Concrete ( UHPC ) overlay. The existing approach slabs will be retained, except near the abutments where portions will be removed and replaced. The existing approach slab portions which remain will have the top 1 inch of concrete removed and the slab will be topped with 1 inch nominal thickness of UHPC overlay. The bridge and approach slabs will be diamond ground after construction. Backwalls and bridge seats will be reconstructed for the new structure. Spalls and hollow in the wall faces of the abutments and walls will be repaired where required. The bridge will be closed during construction with traffic detoured on local roadways.
