Description | I-80 over the Mississippi River Corridor, Phase I Engineering Services and EIS, Rock Island County, Region Two/District Two. Phase I engineering services are required for the preparation of a Combined Design Report and an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the structure that carries I-80 over the Mississippi River. District Two together with the Iowa Department of Transportation are currently developing a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study. Findings from this corridor study will be incorporated into this Phase I project. It is possible that the proposed improvements may include total replacement and widening of the structure and may be on new alignment. Various alternates will be studied to determine the most viable solution for this corridor. Impacts to the interchanges of I-80/IL 84 (IL side), which also crosses the Canadian Pacific (CP) Railroad, and I-80/US 67 (IA side) may need to be explored, along with other existing interchange locations as the project develops. Consideration should be given to the scenic overlook, as well as pedestrian and bicycle accommodations. Phase I tasks may include the preparation of Bridge Condition Report (BCR), Type Size Locations (TSL) drawings, SGRs/Geotechnical investigations, Value Engineering (VE) Study, Interchange Type Study (ITS), Intersection Design Studies (IDS), Traffic Management Analysis (TMA), Subsurface Utility Engineering (S.U.E.), remove/replace culverts, perform bathymetric survey, coordinating/conducting public involvement activities, including facilitating two virtual/public meetings, preparation of public meeting exhibits and graphic displays, preliminary cost estimates, cross sections, typical sections, a vessel collision study, traffic modeling and capacity analysis, preparation of ROW documents and related work. |
