Description | 1. Canal Maintenance Location and Length: Contractor shall perform canal maintenance on a portion of canal "C," as shown in Attachment A. The total length of the portion of Canal "C" is estimated at 2,596 (+/-) linear feet (LF). Wetlands will not require Maintenance. However, No wetlands, as identified by the wetland inventory map from the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD), exist within this portion of the project area. See attachment I for more information. No additional compensation will be made towards the lump sum quantity if the length is found to vary. The area of Maintenance starts at CR-721 and Ends at 2,596' North through Canal "C." (both banks of the canal and the bottom of the canal are considered in 1 linear foot of measurement). a. Approximate length of the portion of Canal C= 2,596 (+/-). 2. Canal Easement Data - Canal easement data metes and bounds and typical cross-sections are shown in the as-built attachments. The canal and easement typical cross-sections indicate an average bottom width between 4 and 20 feet. The as-builts also note a 55 LF maintenance easement section on both sides of the canal. This bottom width varies as the adjacent land elevation varies. Some clearing of the 55 LF easements may be necessary to traverse and provide access to the access the canal. Some areas of the canals are fenced off, and the 55-foot easements are on cleared portions of private property. If trees need to be removed for access along the 55 LF easement, then they shall be removed at the contractors' expense regardless of the tree diameter. Some canals are fenced both parallel to and across the canal at property lines. It is highly recommended that the Contractor follow the ditch lines whenever possible. The Contractor shall minimize entry and exit points along the canal, which in turn will reduce private property disturbance and fence replacement parallel to the ditch line. |
