Description | The focus for this requirement will be on green infrastructure for heat island mitigation as well as water quality benefits. Sustainable design strategies might include, but are not limited to: • Aesthetically and functionally valuable landscape architecture designs for green infrastructure that result in both community and water quality benefits, as well as heat island mitigation. • ‘Green and complete streets’ designs that serve all modes of transportation safely and effectively, including automobiles, pedestrians, bikes, and public transportation; while also addressing stormwater runoff and heat island effects. • Transit-oriented, brownfield, infill and corridor redevelopment principles that improve walkability, bicycle access and economic revitalization. • Planning, design and development strategies for better climate change adaptation and resiliency. This assistance will help four communities advance sustainable design strategies. The four communities include: Birmingham, Alabama; Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; Shoshone-Bannock Tribe, Fort Hall Reservation, Idaho; and Mountain View Community, Bernalillo County, New Mexico. |
