Description

Renovation of a fire / police facility in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility. Renovations to Station #3 were identified by the Fire Department Study Implementation Task Force and were included in the final report by the Task Force. That final report was given to the Town Council for acceptance, and was accepted by such. We do not have female facilities in the station and we have recently added two additional female members to the staff. This request has been vetted with the Task Force and the Town Council, and is a very important upgrade project. This building needs painting, insulation, electrical upgrades, a new ramp in front of the station, and paving of the training grounds. This building was constructed in 1960 with no significant upgrades to the building since it was constructed. The renovations will include male and female restroom provisions, updated heating and electrical, expanded apparatus bays, and a training room. This project is in included in the Town of Smithfield FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of June 29, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
