Description

he University has begun the implementation of converting their existing 5KV underground distribution system to a 15KV. This system will consist of new 15KV service and installation of 3 loop distribution elements. Presently completion of new 15KV main service and underground duct and cable system for Loop #1 is being completed. This project, Phase II, consists of installation of new 15KV transformers, extension of basic feeder infrastructure for Loop #1 to feed the new transformers and modification of secondary components to support new transformers. The project includes, but is not limited to, selective demolition, new construction for a loop. Utility relocation and extensions, erosion and sediment control, miscellaneous sitework, supervision of the Work of the project, and all related work, as indicated on the Bid and Construction Documents. Contractors must be a licensed electrical contractor along with having a general contractors license in the state of Alabama. A cashier's check of bid bond payable to the University of Montevallo, in an amount not less that five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000, must accompany the bidder's proposal. Performance and statutory Labor and Material Payment bonds, and insurance in compliance with requirements, will be required at the signing of the Contract Deposit check s for printing shall be written to the Engineer, Consulting Construction Engineering. Contractors who obtain plans that do not meet pre-qualified requirements for bidding will be refunded their deposit in full upon return of documents in good condition within ten (10) days of bid date. Other sets for Contractors, and sets for subcontractors and dealers, may be obtained with the same deposit, which will be refunded as above, less cost of printing, reproduction, handling and distribution, which is estimated to be the same as the deposit amount. Only contractors who have been approved to bid pursuant to prequalification procedures and criteria established by the Owner will be eligible to bid on the Project. Preferred method of delivery is digital, via email. Firms seeking to prequalify must not contact the University of Montevallo Administration, Staff, Officials, Board Members, etc. All questions are to be directed to Consulting Construction Engineering. Contacting the University of Montevallo could result in disqualification from bidding. This will be the only opportunity to pre-qualify for this project so all contractors who wish to participate must respond within the required time frame in order to obtain the Pre-Qualification Package Bids from Contractor Bidders who do no attend the Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be rejected. The substantial completion date will be August 12, 2023. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms contained in the Bidding Project Manual, or original copies thereof. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for Contractors must be licensed under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended and must show such evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by Engineer or Owner; the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying their current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered and on the Proposal Form. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner's judgement, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted
