Description

e project's scope of work entails the rehabilitation and re-purposing of an abandoned school and attached gymnasium for use as a new branch of the county library serving Cape May City and nearby portions of adjacent municipalities.Preservation work entails the building's surviving historic building fabric, including wood windows and doors (restoration and replication), exterior masonry restoration (cleaning, raking and repointing of exterior brick) and interior finishes (plaster, wood floors and pressed metal ceiling panels). New construction includes a modest one-story addition, a mezzanine, a new elevator, flat roof replacement and the sensitive introduction of all new systems (HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire suppression). All proposed work shall meet the requirements of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Location- 720 Franklin Street, Cape May, NJ 08204 It is the County's intention to release Bid Documents to qualified bidders shortly thereafter. Bid documents are not available for review at this time. Only contractors that have been determined to be qualified will be allowed to bid on this project. Each project must have an aggregate construction cost of at least $1,250,000. Questions regarding these specifications must be directed in writing to Allison L. Hansen, Purchasing Agent, via email at allison.hansen@co.cape-may.nj.us. The first deadline for questions is FRIDAY, JUNE 10th, 2022, by 12:00 P.M., NOON. final deadline for questions is WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22nd 2022, by 12:00 P.M., NOON.
