Description | Work under this contract includes the replacement of existing in-service butterfly valves and gate valves with new resilient wedge gate valves located along U.S. Route 6 & 44 (East Center Street and Middle Turnpike East), Porter Street, Woodbridge Street, and Vernon Street in central Manchester. The valves identified have either failed or are at the end of service life and need to be replaced as part of system maintenance. Replacement of said valves will require the installation of wet tap insertion valves and line stops to minimize service interruptions. In addition at identified locations side street water main tees and isolation valves are to be replaced. The project includes other appurtenant work such as installation of resilient wedge gate valves at new locations; cutting and removal of concrete road base (State highway right of way), temporary and permanent pavement repair; and maintenance and protection of traffic. |
