Description

Davidson County, NC is seeking a qualified firm to provide programing, design, and construction phase services for an Environmental Center in Yadkin River Park in Linwood, North Carolina. Services may include surveying, programing, sizing, design, permitting, consultation, presentations, Davis-Bacon reconciliation and A/E related services. The purpose of the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is to generally describe the work desired by the County and to invite qualified persons or firms to submit written descriptions of their qualifications and proposed approach for providing that work. All firms submitting proposals must have demonstrated experience and expertise in Environmental Center design and construction administration services. Experience within the previous five (5) years is preferred. Davidson County is an Equal Opportunity Employer and local, minority, female owned and small businesses are encouraged to submit proposals. Respondents to this Request for Qualifications shall be licensed to practice architecture or engineering within the State of North Carolina. Statements submitted with license applications pending shall not be considered responsive. Responses to this request shall be submitted in accordance with the procedures outlined herein. From the proposals received, Davidson County will conduct a competitive Qualifications Based Selection Process to identify the best-qualified firm with which to negotiate a contract, this will be following 143-64.31. The site/address of the Environmental Center shall be 1135 Trading Ford Way, Linwood, NC or GPS coordinates 35.725400 - 80.389610. This is a 3.27+1- acre site sitting along 1212 Wilcox Way, Linwood, NC. The proposed Environmental Center is included in the Yadkin River Park Master Plan, updated for Davidson County (April 2021). The purpose of the proposed Environmental Center will be to connect existing and future bicycle and pedestrian facilities, blue-way, and to enhance recreational opportunities for surrounding residents and region. The Center will also provide an ideal learning environment to learn about and interact with the historical landscape adjoining the facility, natural ecosystems, Native American culture, military history, transportation, forestry practice, and much more. The Center will provide restrooms, concessions, and meeting space for joggers, bikers, walkers, fisherman, boaters, history enthusiast, naturalists, students, government agencies, and members of the general public, both on a local and regional level. The project consists of a two-story Environmental Education Center (1,500-2,000 square feet total). Internal access road (400 linear feet) from the existing Trading ford Way, 40 space paved parking area, sidewalk, and utility infrastructure. All the infrastructure components will be new.
