Description | Qualified companies to bid on the hauling of municipal solid waste from the County owned transfer station to a regional landfill located in Folkston, Georgia and owned by Waste Management, Inc. 1. The County is currently disposing of approximately 34,000 tons of waste per year at the regional landfill. The volume is increasing by approximately 2,000 tons per year. 2. Haulers must stage a minimum of 6 - 48’ (116 cubic yards) walking floor trailers at the transfer station. 3. County will load trailers. 4. Loads will be weighed on County scales prior to departure and a weight slip will be issued. 5. Hauling currently requires 3 semi tractors and drivers on Monday with a total of 9 loads being hauled. Tuesday through Friday typically requires 2 to 3 drivers with a total of 6 or 7 loads being hauled daily. Holidays typically result in an increase in hauling, which often requires staging 1 additional trailer. 6. Waste Management uses a tipper at the landfill for unloading trucks. 7. The County is entertaining a multi-year contract. 8. The County is requesting that bids submitted be based on a per ton charge. 9. Distance: 98.2 miles from the Suwannee County Transfer Station, 10910 144th Street, McAlpin, FL 32062 to the Waste Management Landfill, 367 Chesser Island Road, Folkston, GA 31537. |
