Description

The Town of Buxton needs to have the roadsides of approximately 120 miles of paved and gravel roads mowed during the months of July and August. Bidders will be responsible for discussing the project with the Public Works Director before submitting their bids in order to be familiar with the scope of the work and the town's expectations. The contractor will be responsible for supplying his own equipment including mechanical mower, hydraulic mower, and work zone signs for the maintenance of traffic safety, for himself and the traveling public, during the mowing by posting appropriate caution signs and taking other appropriate safety precautions in conformance with the operating standards of the Maine Department of Transportation. Roadsides must be cut back to five (5) feet from the shoulder. Additional cutting at intersections will be determined in cooperation with the Public Works Director. The contractor is responsible for leaving the roads and roadsides in a neat and orderly condition at the end of each workday. Prior to the commencement of work, the contractor must provide the town with proof of insurance for Commercial General Liability & automobile liability coverage with the town listed as a named insured and limits in accordance with the town's specifications. Contractor must also provide proof of Workers Compensation coverage, if required. If not required, contractor must provide the town with a letter of Predetermination of Independent Contractor Status from the State.
