Description | Per the bridge inspection last year, the bridge needed some extensive repairs. In FY2019, the City completed Phase I of the repairs, replaced all the joints, removed the center median, and repaired other items above the deck at a cost of $400,000, thereby stopping the damage to the bottom of the bridge. Phase II includes repairing the bridge piers and pier caps, painting the steel girders, mitigating some erosion at an abutment, and resurfacing the bridge deck with an estimated cost of $400,000. As with any capital project, the Purchasing Division determines the correct contractual mechanism (RFP/Bid) based on the NM State Procurement Code. The solicitation will include adherence to the NM Public Works Wage Decision and/or Federal Davis-Bacon Wage Act, if applicable. OSHA requirements will be complied with during the construction process. Purchasing will conduct labor interviews if required in addition to negotiating any construction delays or change orders. Payment is initially reviewed by the using department then confirmed by Purchasing. Finance provides an oversight responsibility to ensure costs are maintained within budget constraints. As of April 27, 2023, this project is included in the City of Farmington's FY 2023-2027 CIP. Information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed. A firm construction timeline has not been released. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. |
