Strategic Communications Consultant

A strategic communications firm will offer critical support to the Mayor’s Office of the City of Stamford to assist in bolstering the communications systems within the city that will offer clear and efficient information sharing to city employees and residents. The firm will need to provide the following scope of work: ? Communications Planning & Implementation o Assist Mayor’s staff with coordination of information that will need to be communicated on an on-going basis. o Assist Mayor’s staff in leveraging City platforms to use and in some cases develop systems for internal communications where possible to ensure more routine, efficient, and effective communications on a rolling basis from the Mayor’s Office as well as other key City agencies. o Assist in ensuring that communications channels are being used effectively and in coordination, including via the media, digital (email and social media), and other direct communications to stakeholders. o Assist the city in streamlining communication to the public by offering guidance on best practices. Messaging and Strategy o Ensure clarity around specific activity and ensure the use of consistent language over time and across issue areas. Assist Mayor’s staff with sharing administration goals and priorities with the public in order to focus on the future of Stamford. Assist Mayor’s staff in community engagement efforts to ensure that all residents of Stamford feel listened to and engaged. Communications Support and Guidance o Available to City staff in real time to help understand, process, and respond to breaking news to assist with clear public information sharing. o Assist in ongoing strategic review of past examples of unforeseen issues and areas that required attention and may have derailed planned work, in order to plan communications activity and resources more effectively
