Description

The stabilization/reconstruction of the approximate 350-foot long failing mechanically-stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall located adjacent to, and supporting the south-bound lane of Old Ramsey Road. The existing MSE wall is located approximately 275 feet north of the intersection of Old Ramsey Road and Forbes Road. Some of the southbound lane has been undermined by the partial failure and has lost pavement support. As such, a portion of the project consists of replacing the lost soil support with engineered fill soil and reconstructing the pavement in that lane. The design/build project requires an engineered repair system having a design-life of 75 years and following the local standard of care for engineering design of such systems. Preliminarily, we anticipate the remedial system could include soil nails, rock anchors, shotcrete or high-strength mesh facing, micropiles, or reconstruction of the MSE retaining wall.
