Timber Sale - Alexander WMA

Unit sale (per ton by product) of pine and incidental hardwood on 646.1 acres of Department of Natural Resources (DNR) property located on Alexander WMA in Burke County. The sale area is located approximately nine (9) miles southeast of Waynesboro, GA; The location is further described by Georgia Atlas & Gazetteer page 38, block D3. This timber sale consists of 37 stands totaling 646.1 acres of planted loblolly pine; sale boundaries are firebreaks and the WMA boundary is marked in yellow paint. Within these stands 31 small clear-cut areas, totaling 91.3 acres, have been marked in blue paint. The remaining areas outside the clear-cuts, totaling 554.8 acres, will be thinned by operator selection, leaving a residual basal area of 40 – 50 ft2 per acre. Some incidental hardwood, primarily pulpwood size, is to be harvested as well.
