Dam Removal on Sugar Creek

Project Purposes:The purposes of the Lake and River Enhancement program-funded construction project include:1. Complete a dam removal project on Sugar Creek in the City of Crawfordsville. 2. Insure project success through necessary communication with the City of Crawfordsville, LARE program staff and Ecosystems Connections Inst. (ECI)II. Project Tasks: 1. Remove the 200ft long, 4-6ft tall and 2ft wide dam in accordance with permit conditions. All material from the dam will be removed and loaded directly on trucks provided by the City of Crawfordsville, who will also be responsible for hauling all debris to a final destination. 2. Dam will be accessed by way of one of the two identified routes on river right bank (northwest side) of Sugar Creek. 3. Seed, blanket/mulch any disturbed areas at the removal site, access to dam and staging area. Disturbed bank will be graded to a 3:1 or flatter slope. 4. As-built reports and removal assessments will be completed by Ecosystems Connections Institute. Selected contractor will be required to supply any information related to the dam removal project needed for the completion of the report. 5. Bid as Alternate #1 removal of metal retaining wall at west edge of dam and grading to 3:1 slope to existing creek bank.
