Description

FIRE ISLAND TO MONTAUK POINT (FIMP): Coastal storm risk management for approximately 4,350 structures. The work includes Feasibility-level plan for an estimated 4,350 structures within the 10% floodplain, some will be elevation and/or wet floodproofing: of an estimated 3,700 structures and dry flood proofing of an estimated 650 structures. (Elevation consists of a detaching a building from its foundation and raising the lowest floor to the elevation required by USACE; wet floodproofing consists of relocating basement utilities to a new utility room, filling the basement, and adding flood vents to the foundation walls. Dry Floodproofing consists of making structures watertight by sealing the walls below a USACE designated elevation, relocating utility access points from below to above this elevation.
