Description | We need a rollup door on the West end of the Vernal Armory. A 16' high x 14' wide roiling steel service curtain door on masonry jamb, 3" curved slat (37 psf wind load) helical coil counterbalance, will be needed. A framed plywood barrier with plastic on the inside to keep out the wind has been installed in the opening to secure the buiiding. This will need to be removed. A lift will be required to do the work. A rental business in town has a lift but limited stock at this establishment will require prior arrangements to be made. The existing electric rollup door was originally welded to strips of metal on the brick. Steel is only wrapped around the brick at the bottom level with strips on the inside extending to the top of the door. The welds on the roll up door were not done very well so rust and strong wind eventually brought the door down inside the building. The door is laying on the floor of the drill hall and the spring on the door may stifl be wound up so it will need to be safely removed by the contractor. The motor is still attached to the wall. It was damaged when the door tore away from it. Depending on the new doors electrical requirements, the existing circuit may need to be upgraded. All existing parts to the door that remain will need to be removed and the surface cleaned and painted to match. Patching and trims may need to be installed. A new door including motor, controls and safety devices will need to be provided and installed to local codes and regulations. A safety bumper on the bottom of the doorwould be required. |
