Description

The project consists of General Trades Construction, Flooring Installation, Acoustical Ceiling Installation, Mechanical Construction, Electrical Construction, Temperature Controls Construction, TAB Services Re-Bid, Roofing, Building Envelope Sealing, Domestic Water Efficiency Improvements Re-Bid, and other related Work indicated in the Drawings and Specifications. The Board of Directors shall award contracts for the Project within sixty (60) days ofthe bid opening. Board meetings will all be held at 768 S. Maple St., Avoca, IA 51521. All sealed bids in connection therewith shall be submitted to the Board ofDirectors ofthe AHSTW Community School District on or before the time herein set for letting. All proposals shall be made on official proposal forms furnished by the Architect/Engineer and must be enclosed in a separate sealed envelope and plainly identified and addressed to the AHSTW Community School District. If a bid is to be mailed, the bid envelope shall be sealed in a regular mailing envelope and addressed to Darin Jones, AHSTW Community School District, AHSTW Community School District, 768 S. Maple St.,Avoca, IA 51521. FAX and E-mail Bids will not be accepted. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities as allowed by law and to hold and consider the bids for sixty (60) days after the date ofthe bid opening. The contract will be awarded to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check, cashier's check or certified share draft in a separate sealed envelope, clearly marked "Bid Bond" or Bid Security", in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total amount ofthe proposal. The certified or cashier's check shall be drawn on a bank in Iowa or a bank chartered under the laws ofthe United States ofAmerica or the certified share draft shall be drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws ofthe United States and payable to the AHSTW Community School District. Said check or share draft may be cashed, or the bid bond forfeited as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a contract within ten (10) days ofissuance of a Notice ofAward and post bond satisfactory to the School District insuring the faithful fulfillment ofthe contract and maintenance ofsaid improvements as required by law. The bid bond should be executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State ofIowa and must not contain any conditions either in the body or as an endorsement thereon. The successful bidder will be required to furnish performance and payment bonds in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) ofthe contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Board ofDirectors ofthe AHSTW Community School District, Iowa, and shall guarantee the faithful performance ofthe contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, the payment for labor and materials used in the project and the maintenance ofsaid improvements in good repair for not less than one (1) year from the time of acceptance of said improvements by the Board ofDirectors ofthe AHSTW Community School District. Payment ofthe cost ofsaid project will be made from such cash funds ofthe AHSTW Community School District as may be legally used for said purpose at the discretion ofthe AHSTW Community School District. The work shall commence per the Bidding and Construction Schedule after receipt by the contractor of a written notice to proceed, and shall be substantially completed in phases, subject to any changes in the contract period as provided for in these specifications, and granted by the Board ofDirectors. The Work shall also be finally completed in phases, and ready for final payment, on or before the end ofthe final phase in September 2024, subject to any changes in the contract period as provided for in these specifications and granted by the Board of Directors ofthe AHSTW Community School District. All bidders shall provide a statement regarding the bidder's resident status. This statement shall be on the Bidder Status Form designated by the Iowa Department ofLabor Commissioner and available on-line. Failure to submit a fully completed Bidder Status Form with the bid may result in the bid being deemed non-responsive and rejected.
