Description | McAllister Center Tuckpointing and Brick Replacement - Repair/replace damaged brick and tuckpointing on the McAllister Recreation Center located at 2351 N. 20th Street, Lafayette, IN 47904. It shall be the responsibility of the contract to determine quantities of all materials, including any special materials/equipment required and incorporate any such items in their cost. Contractor will also be responsible for all measurements pertaining to the project and quote the total amount and a cost per linear foot. Brick repair/replacement and tuckpointing: a. Chemical Clean all masonry 100%. b. Grind out mortar joints on top 5 feet of building 100%. c. Selectively remove and replace any cracked brick (matching existing brick) on top 5 feet of building. d. Remove any loose and deteriorated mortar deemed necessary and repoint them (matching existing mortar). e. Cut out all joints, stone to stone and stone to brick. f. Install backer rod and caulk in all joints (stone to stone & stone to brick). g. Any expansion joint sealants should match existing mortar. h. Final preparation of joint shall be done by hand. i. Apply 2 coats of Siloxane PD or similar sealant. Cleaning: a. At the end of each day sweep up and remove sand, mortar droppings, dust, debris and trash from the site. b. Remove efflorescence, dropping, excess mortar and mortar smears from the building. c. Seal all newly tuckpointed areas. Evidence of financial responsibility and a bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid are required for this event and must be submitted with your response. The City reserves the right to waive irregularities in the bids and to reject all bids pursuant to State Law and City bidding procedures. The Board of Public Works and Safety reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Bids received after the specified time will be returned unopened to the bidder |
