Replace Windows - Student Center East Tower Professional Services

The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois is seeking a professional services consultant team for Replace Windows - Student Center East Tower (SCET) project. The project will begin with a Conceptual Design Study for window replacement from the 4th floor up to the 8th floor. The Conceptual Phase will determine the building design and will confirm the construction budget and construction phasing. A faade inspection and energy analysis will be done as part of the Conceptual Design Study. After a successful Conceptualization Phase and following the University of Illinois Board of Trustees approval, it is the University's intent to utilize the Professional Services Consultant firm for the remainder of the project for design development, construction documents, bidding and construction administration professional services for each of the construction phases that are defined in this Conceptual Design Study. SCET is located at 710 South Halsted Street and is one of the original Walter Netsch designed buildings. The windows are set into the concrete faade, allowing for no thermal expansion and leads to cracked glazing. Wind, water, and weather seep through the cracks causing further damage to the interior of the building. The request is to remove the slotted windows and replacement with a curtain wall type system. The SCET Window Replacement project will require a consultant with expertise in faade inspections, concrete construction, and curtain wall design. The project team to include a cost estimator and project scheduler.
